The Wonderland of the Visible
Yiyi&Yuer | self-published | 100 pages | 2016-2017 | 130×210mm
"Visibility" is not taken for granted, it is subject to physical, psychological, and conceptual limitations. Attempts to break through one limitation must be made with the power of another. Our eyes build images of the world in such a reciprocal process. The Wonderland of the Visible is an exploration of the visible, which may have a variety of themes, including love and melancholy, waiting and making choices, but it is more concerned with form and order, the power of the visual, and the construction of the individual. We envision different planets — either as an endless line or as a myriad of parallel surfaces — and plan to publish a serials examining the ways in which space, time, nature, and construction take shape on them. We tried to strike a balance between the abstract and the figurative, just as our protagonists who were transformed into bears and owls and acquired their own images.
This long interstellar journey begins on the planet of the line, expecting that we will meet on the journey and explore the unknown together.
