Coordinate

The three-dimensional Cartesian coordinate system, so familiar that it is taken for granted, yet it shapes the way we see the world. With it, a few lines can create infinite space on a two-dimensional plane. I’m captivated by it.
I conceived this comic last week on the subway to the swimming pool. While presenting the form and metaphor of coordinates, I also wanted to look at myself. A person standing at the origin in the darkness, viewing the world with oneself as the reference point, needs to balance the relationship with others and the world. One also longs for like-minded companions. The phrases "Absolutely Can't Miss" train and "Relatively Easy" train suddenly popped into my mind—strange as they are, but it seems I have indeed made things relatively easier for myself by letting go of what once seemed absolutely unmissable.

三维笛卡尔坐标系，因过于熟悉而被认为理所当然，却塑造着我们看待世界的方式。借助它，简单几根线就能在二维平面上创造无限空间。我沉迷其中。
上周在去游泳馆的地铁上构思了这个漫画。想在呈现坐标的形式及隐喻之余，自我观照。一个在黑暗中站在原点的人，以自我为参照看待这个世界，他需要平衡自身、与他人及世界的关系，也渴望志趣相投的同伴。“绝对不能错过”号列车和“相对容易”号列车是突然从脑中蹦出来的奇怪词汇，但我好像的确是通过放弃一个个看起来绝对不能错过的东西，来让自己相对容易一些。
